Welcome back, we hope students and families had a good spring break.
Principal’s Message | April 2025
Well, the days leading up to the start of spring were beautiful, before the return to snow! Here’s hoping that the weather gets better and spring is here for good!
March has been an incredible month of learning at Radisson Park School, and students should be very proud of their hard work and achievements. I am not exaggerating when I say that many days in March there have been students and staff members sharing work samples and stories of learning with us in the office, which has been such a fabulous celebration that Ms. Derdall and I have been thrilled to share in. Although we had to unexpectedly move online, teachers were excited to be able to share stories of students’ progress and growth with families during Learning Conversations, and we do hope that all families had an opportunity to celebrate this with students. Thank you to students for amazing conversations about how we can all work together to approach our last quarter of school with a renewed commitment to working hard, trying our best, and being respectful to all.
Book Fair
A huge thank you for amazing support for our Scholastic Book Fair! Although we could not have parent in the building sales far exceeded our expectations. Ms. Chin is excitedly ordering books for the library with the profits.
2025-2026 School Year
While we are still awaiting actual budget information, it is that time of year when we begin planning for the next school year and we wanted to share the following:
- Radisson Park School follows the Calgary Board of Education traditional calendar and the first day of school for students will be Tuesday September 2, 2025.
- Registration for the fall (for Kindergarten or students new to Radisson Park) is underway, and if you have a child eligible for kindergarten (born in 2020), or know someone who does, we encourage you to register as soon as possible to help us with planning. Registration can be completed online through your MyCBE account, or through the website at www.cbe.ab.ca .
- As we begin planning for the new school year we appreciate you keeping us informed of any family changes (e.g. moving) or your intentions (e.g. student accepted into different program) for next year. We will continue to only accept registration for students living within our designated community boundaries, especially as student enrolment is increasing and Radisson Park is consider as “closed status”. If your family has moved or is moving over the summer, your student will be required to register in the school designated in your new community. Please let the school know if you have moved or are planning to move, so that we can plan for and support a successful transition for your student.
Now that we are back from spring break we only about twelve weeks left in the school year, and we all know that this last quarter of the school year will fly by! We are so looking forward to making this last quarter the best teaching and learning time of the year, and we thank all of our families for your ongoing support. We look forward to finishing the year strong together!
Mrs. Drefko & Ms. Derdall

Volunteer Security Clearance
We welcome all parents to volunteer for field trips and activities. You will need a current Calgary Police Security Clearance before volunteering. There are 2 ways to obtain the CPS Clearance. Through your MYCBE Account you can complete the Volunteer Registration form. Mrs. Lyons will send you an email with information on how to complete the Volunteer Registration and how to have the clearance paid for through a voucher. The other way would be to come into the office with a valid piece of photo identification. Mrs. Lyons will provide you with the EPIC letter to which you will need to take to the Westwinds Police Department; you will be responsible for paying the $21.25 which will not be reimbursed. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lyons at the school 403-777-8070 x 0.
